  3. 1 Vanilla bean
  4. 2 tbsp Brown sugar

  1. Wash the apples.
  2. Peel all the apples. (I like to peel mine in a spiral to eliminate waste in a timely manner).

  6. Add the water.

  9. Mash the semi-tender wedges with a masher or fork and continue to simmer for another 20 minutes, covered.
  10. Then mash apples for the final time.
  11. Add the sugar and salt before removing the vanilla bean.
  12. Allow to cool 15 minutes before serving. Try as is or as a topping for ice cream. Also great with savory pork roasts.
